3 video channel installation – Pupil in the Dark Trilogy

Pupil in the Dark Trilogy follows the passage of time as a mass of experience observed from different angles.

The last film of the trilogy Unlanded (2016) is a short documentary on the artist’s recent struggles with the current immigration system highly focused on the notions of Economic Security. The artist’s day to day life in this land is captured by her collaborator’s gaze through a camera lens. An exposure of a person reveals the disappearance of individuals within the system’s reduction armed with numbers and categorizations.

The trilogy guides the artist through the three different phases: realization-reflection-reaction. The artist sees this stream of consciousness as the light coming through the pupil in the darkness. The pupil expands to invite more lights in, in order to see the world better.
